| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field displays the coat of arms of Chiloé Island, featuring two towers above stylized waves within an oval cartouche, surmounted by a crown and flanked by a globe and five stars. The escutcheon is encircled by decorative laurel and floral branches, with cannons visible at the sides. The denomination numeral '2' appears below the shield, with the word 'POUNDS' inscribed along the lower rim. The legend 'ISLA DE CHILOÉ' arcs across the upper portion of the coin in raised Latin letters. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Chiloé, the large southern archipelago long isolated by geography and weather, maintained its own distinct political identity well into the 19th century — it was the last territory in South America to be relinquished by Spain, finally surrendering to Chilean forces in January 1826, nearly fifteen years after the rest of the continent had broken free.
