| Beschrijving keerzijde | The copper-nickel centre presents a forward-facing portrait of a youthful Winston Churchill in military dress uniform, complete with ornate braiding, epaulettes, and decorative cord fastenings at the collar, engraved by Henry Gray. The dates 1874 and 1965, denoting Churchill's birth and death years respectively, flank the portrait at mid-field. The nickel brass outer ring bears the legend 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF WINSTON CHURCHILL running around the upper arc. The engraver's initials appear discreetly in the lower right of the inner field. The composition commemorates the 150th anniversary of Churchill's birth, presenting him as a young officer in a style evoking late Victorian portraiture. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Churchill has appeared on British coinage before — most notably the 1965 crown struck immediately after his death, the first time a non-royal had appeared on a UK circulation coin in the modern era. This 2024 issue marks the 60th anniversary of his death and continues the Royal Mint's ongoing commemorative two-pound program, which has leaned heavily on British historical figures since the bimetallic format was standardized in 1998.
