The Manx Electric Railway and its associated steam lines have operated continuously since the 1870s, making the Isle of Man home to one of the oldest surviving electric railways in the world. Fenella was a steam locomotive that served the Isle of Man Railway's narrow-gauge network, which at its peak connected Douglas to Ramsey and points west — much of it later closed or suspended during the mid-20th century's declining ridership years. The Douglas to Port Erin line remains operational today, one of the few Victorian-era steam railways still running scheduled passenger services anywhere in the British Isles.
