The K. Hauptlaboratorium Ingolstadt was a Bavarian Royal artillery laboratory — responsible for the manufacture and testing of ammunition and pyrotechnic materials. Notgeld issued by military installations of this kind is uncommon; most emergency coinage from the World War I period came from municipal or commercial issuers, not active military facilities.
