| Additional information |
The Bremer Lagerhaus-Gesellschaft was a major Bremen warehouse and dock company whose private token issues circulated among workers as a substitute wage or canteen currency — a practice common in German port industries before stricter labor regulations curtailed it. Iron was chosen during periods of metal scarcity, placing this issue almost certainly in the First World War era, when brass and copper were reserved for the war effort.
