备注

Palawan's wartime emergency currency was issued under Japanese occupation but by Filipino provincial authorities maintaining a degree of local administrative function — a peculiar dual reality common to Philippine guerrilla and civil-hybrid governance of 1943. The Province of Palawan series circulated alongside both Japanese military pesos and, in some areas, genuine guerrilla scrip, creating a chaotic monetary environment where acceptance depended entirely on who was enforcing it that week.

The S926 designation places this within the Philippine Commonwealth emergency issues catalogued by Pick. Palawan's geographic isolation — a long, narrow island chain far from Luzon's administrative centers — made resupply of official currency nearly impossible, which is the direct reason these provincial notes exist at all.
