| 裏面の説明 | Central device depicts a Phrygian liberty cap atop a radiant sunburst, with a balance scale suspended below whose pans hang from chains on either side, symbolizing justice and liberty. A scroll inscribed LEY (law) appears at the base of the central device. The circular legend MONEDA PROVISIONAL arcs across the upper field, while DOS PESOS is inscribed along the lower periphery. The entire design is framed by an inner border of alternating leaf-shaped ornaments matching the obverse. |

Oaxaca's provisional coinage of 1915 was issued under the authority of General Guillermo Meixueiro, who controlled the state as part of the Soberanista movement resisting both Carranza's Constitutionalists and the broader chaos of the Mexican Revolution. The state effectively operated as a monetary island, striking its own silver coins because federal currency — whether Carrancista or Zapatista — was widely distrusted and often refused in local commerce.
The "Curved Bottom 2" and "Dos" spelling variants catalogued separately under Gruber-Bressett reflect genuine die distinctions, not grading subjectivity. Oaxacan provisional issues were produced under improvised conditions, and die inconsistency across the series is the rule rather than the exception.
