Obverse description Unidentified draped bust facing left, centrally positioned in the field, with the date 1915 incused in the lower exergue flanked by two five-pointed stars. The circumference is bordered by a decorative inner ring of alternating leaf-shaped ornaments. The circular legend ESTADO L. Y S. DE OAXACA arcs around the upper periphery, abbreviated for 'Estado Libre y Soberano de Oaxaca' (Free and Sovereign State of Oaxaca).

Reverse description Central device depicts a Phrygian liberty cap atop a radiant sunburst, with a balance scale suspended below whose pans hang from chains on either side, symbolizing justice and liberty. A scroll inscribed LEY (law) appears at the base of the central device. The circular legend MONEDA PROVISIONAL arcs across the upper field, while DOS PESOS is inscribed along the lower periphery. The entire design is framed by an inner border of alternating leaf-shaped ornaments matching the obverse.
