Banco Industrial was a short-lived regional institution operating out of Cartagena during Colombia's post-Regeneración banking period, when the 1905 monetary reform under Rafael Reyes was actively dismantling the old private banking system and consolidating note-issuing authority toward the national government. A regionally issued denomination this small was already anachronistic by the time it left the press.
ABNC's New York plates are characteristically precise. The "Pesos Oro Legal" designation was legally significant — distinguishing gold-standard obligations from the flood of depreciated paper pesos that had plagued Colombia through the Thousand Days War years prior.
