| Obverse description | The obverse is executed in black letterpress on white paper. At left, a circular vignette contains a classical female portrait in profile facing right, enclosed within fine lathe-work borders, with the numeral 2 at each side. The bank title 'Banco Nacional de la República de Colombia' arches across the upper portion in bold display lettering, below which the denomination 'DOS PESOS' appears in large text with the legend 'EN MONEDA CORRIENTE' beneath. The note bears the date 'Bogotá, Octubre 28 de 1899', multiple manuscript signatures of the Junta de Emisión members, the imprint 'Segunda Edición / Litografía Nacional' at lower left, and the series and number designation at upper left. |
