Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse is executed in letterpress within a plain rectangular border, with the heading BILLETE PRIVILEGIADO set in bold ornamental type at upper centre, flanked by a row of five small stars. The denomination $2 DOS PESOS 2$ is inscribed in large display type below, with the issuing authority legend REPÚBLICA DE HONDURAS and the decree reference ACUERDO SUPREMO DE 15 DE JULIO DE 1891 occupying the lower portion of the note. A faint circular stamp impression is visible at upper left.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse is typographically composed within a guilloche-bordered frame, with REPUBLICA DE HONDURAS inscribed across the upper panel. Two manuscript authorisation signatures appear across the lower portion of the note.

Opmerkingen

Honduras established the Banco Nacional in 1889, but the institution collapsed almost immediately under the weight of political instability and the government's inability to back its own paper. The 1891 issue dates to that short, troubled window before the bank's effective dissolution, making surviving notes from this series genuinely rare rather than artificially so.

Pick 14 is catalogued with considerable uncertainty around surviving population — confirmed examples in any condition are infrequently offered at auction.
