Large numeral 2 appears in ornate frames on either side of the central portrait, with the denomination DOS PESOS inscribed on a panel below, accompanied by the legend MONEDA NACIONAL ORO SEGUN LEY DE 5 DE NOVIEMBRE DE 1881. The upper portion carries the issuer name EL BANCO NACIONAL in bold lettering, with the place and date BUENOS AIRES, ENERO 1 DE 1881 at upper right, and the obligation PAGARÁ AL PORTADOR Y A LA VISTA across the upper field.
