| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of King Nicholas I of Montenegro in left-facing profile, depicting the elderly monarch with short hair and a full beard, rendered in high relief against a smooth field. A decorative spray of olive branches is positioned beneath the truncation at the base of the portrait. The engraver's initials 'SS' (Stefan Schwartz) appear on the truncation.
