| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse bears a multi-line devotional inscription in Devanagari script arranged across the central field, reading from top to bottom in two principal lines. The legend invokes the name of Lord Ram as a divine protector of the Rewa state coinage, reflecting the deep religious significance embedded in the currency of this Hindu princely state. A border of raised pellets or beaded inner ring encircles the inscribed field. The lettering is boldly raised and rendered in the characteristic calligraphic style of early nineteenth-century Devanagari die-cutting. The flan is irregular and the strike uneven, consistent with the hammered technique employed at the local state mint. |
