An intaglio vignette of Simtokha Dzong occupies the centre, the fortified monastery-palace rendered against a lightly tinted landscape of tree-covered hills beneath an open sky. Guilloche border panels with decorative motifs flank the design at left and right. The legend "ROYAL GOVERNMENT OF BHUTAN" runs along the upper margin in Roman capitals, with "TWO NGULTRUM" and its Dzongkha equivalent at foot, and the caption "SIMTOKHA DZONG" inscribed beneath the central vignette. |
