Obverse description The royal emblem of Bhutan is set within a circular guilloche medallion at centre, flanked by two inward-facing druk (thunder dragons) rendered in multicolour intaglio against a fine cloud-pattern underprint. Denomination numerals appear in white on dark panels at lower left and right, with Dzongkha script legends along the upper and lower margins. The issuer inscription "Bank of Bhutan" is placed below the central emblem, accompanied by a manuscript signature.

Reverse description An intaglio vignette of Simtokha Dzong occupies the centre, the fortified monastery-palace rendered against a lightly tinted landscape of tree-covered hills beneath an open sky. Guilloche border panels with decorative motifs flank the design at left and right. The legend "ROYAL GOVERNMENT OF BHUTAN" runs along the upper margin in Roman capitals, with "TWO NGULTRUM" and its Dzongkha equivalent at foot, and the caption "SIMTOKHA DZONG" inscribed beneath the central vignette.
