The "Heaven" series mun coinage was issued under a rotational casting system administered by the Five Military Commands in Seoul, with individual bureaus assigned celestial, terrestrial, and directional designations to track production accountability. The single-dot "small type" variant reflects an output reduction order issued in the 1740s as copper supply from domestic mines — already strained — failed to keep pace with demand driven by expanding market activity in the capital.
Cast rather than struck, these pieces show the characteristic sprue marks of sand-mold production. The Oseong reference 18.149 places this squarely among the tighter, lighter issues that preceded the broader monetary reforms of the 1750s.
