| 表面の説明 | The obverse features the four-character legend of the Sangpyeong Tongbo series arranged around a central square hole in the traditional East Asian cash coin format. Reading top to bottom, the character 常 (Sang) appears above the hole and 平 (Pyong) below, while 通 (Tong) appears to the right and 寶 (Bo) to the left, together forming the inscription 常平通寶, identifying this issue as currency of the Sangpyeong (Ever-Normal) Treasury system of the Joseon Dynasty. The characters are rendered in a regular script style typical of mid-18th century Korean cast coinage. The flat field shows the characteristically rough surface associated with sand-cast production methods of the period. |
