| 正面描述 | The obverse bears the four-character inscription 常平通寶 (Sangpyong Tongbo), arranged in cruciform reading order around a central square hole: 常 (Sang) at top, 平 (Pyong) at bottom, 通 (Tong) at right, and 寶 (Bo) at left. The legend identifies the coin as currency of the Sangpyeongcheong, the Joseon Dynasty's Office for Price Stabilization. Characters are rendered in regular script (해서체) and cast in low relief against a plain field. The square perforation is centrally placed and neatly formed, consistent with standard cast cash coinage of the period. |
