| 表面の説明 | The obverse bears the four-character inscription 常平通寶 (Sangpyong Tongbo), arranged in cruciform reading order around a central square hole: 常 (Sang) at top, 平 (Pyong) at bottom, 通 (Tong) at right, and 寶 (Bo) at left. The legend identifies the coin as currency of the Sangpyeongcheong, the Joseon Dynasty's Office for Price Stabilization. Characters are rendered in regular script (해서체) and cast in low relief against a plain field. The square perforation is centrally placed and neatly formed, consistent with standard cast cash coinage of the period. |

| 裏面の説明 | The reverse displays a mint mark at the top position reading 統 (Tong), denoting the Seoul Military Office Mint (統衛營, Tongwiyong). Below the central square hole appears the character 玄 (Hyon, meaning 'Dark'), one of the Thousand Character Classic sequence characters used to distinguish die varieties. At the right position (3 o'clock) appears the trigram symbol ☳ (震, Chin), representing 'The Arousing' from the Eight Trigrams (Bagua), which together with 玄 serves as a secondary mint or batch identification mark. All characters are cast in low relief against a plain field. |
