The denomination numeral 2 appears in panels flanking the medallion on both sides. Inscriptions around the vignette identify the issuing authority and cite Law No. 4635-A of 8 January 1923 as the legal basis for issue. |

Banco do Brasil's 1923 series was printed by the American Bank Note Company during a period when Brazil's federal government was consolidating note-issuing authority — a process that would eventually strip private and state banks of that privilege entirely by the late 1920s. The ABNC's New York plant handled the bulk of Brazilian federal note production through this period, and the quality of intaglio work on this series reflects the firm's full commercial capabilities rather than any economy printing.
The "1st Print" designation distinguishes this from later impressions of the same design, which differ in plate details detectable primarily under magnification.
