The design is set within a plain field with a milled border, in the restrained baroque style characteristic of late seventeenth-century Danish coinage. |

The lion is surmounted by a royal crown and enclosed within a wreath of laurel branches tied at the base. Below the wreath, the denomination inscription '2 MD' (2 Mark Danish) appears in the exergue. The composition is bold and well-centred, with fine relief detail on the lion's body and the individual laurel leaves, consistent with the high-quality milled coinage produced at the Copenhagen Mint under Christian V. |
