The upper legend 'Notgeld der Hallig Oland:' is set in bold black Fraktur across the top. The central vignette shows a vaulted brick archway through which an elderly Frisian fisherman or islander in traditional white hooded garb stands, holding a telescope or instrument; above the arch a scroll banner carries the North Frisian motto 'LIEVER DÜD AS SLAW!'. Flanking the arch are stylised crenellated brick tower motifs in red. The denomination '2 Mark' is repeated in Fraktur at the lower left and lower right corners, separated by a row of ornamental crosses. |
