A circular inscription running around the inner border of the vignette bears a patriotic wartime verse. Above the vignette, the heading 'KRIEGSNOTGELD · DER · STADT · SCHLESWIG ·' is set in the same decorative lettering as the obverse, flanked by the denomination '2 MARK' at each upper corner.
