Obverse description Central field depicts a full-length standing figure of the Wild Man (der Wilde Mann), the heraldic supporter of the House of Welf, rendered facing forward with long flowing hair and beard, holding a uprooted pine tree as a staff in his right hand and resting his left hand on his hip, standing upon a rocky ground. To the left of the figure, the quartered arms of Brunswick-Lüneburg appear on a shield. The circumferential Latin legend, separated by mullets, reads GEORG:LVD:D:G:D:BR:&L:S:R:I:EL, identifying the issuer as George Louis, Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg, Arch-Treasurer and Prince-Elector of the Holy Roman Empire. The border is formed by a beaded inner circle and a plain rim.
