Obverse description The Central Bank of Malta emblem is positioned at upper left, with an allegorical standing figure of Malta at centre holding a rudder, symbolising sovereign self-determination; two doves flank the central vignette. Decorative underprint motifs in the lower portion are drawn from Roman-period mosaic designs found in Malta. The denomination and issuing authority inscriptions appear in Maltese across the upper and lower registers, rendered in letterpress.
