| Beschrijving voorzijde | The state coat of arms of the People's Republic of Bulgaria occupies the central field, featuring a rampant lion within a shield, flanked by wheat sheaves tied with a ribbon, and surmounted by a five-pointed star. The dates 681 and 1944 appear on a scroll at the base of the arms. The Cyrillic legend НАРОДНА РЕПУБЛИКА БЪЛГАРИЯ arcs along the upper rim, separated from the field by a beaded border with decorative cross motifs. The denomination numeral 2 is prominently rendered in large relief below the arms, with the currency designation ЛЕВА to the right and the date 1981 to the left. |

Bulgaria issued this coin to mark the 1981 World Hunting Exposition held in Plovdiv — one of the largest such events ever staged in the Eastern Bloc, drawing exhibitors from dozens of countries at a moment when the Soviet sphere was eager to project cultural legitimacy through international spectacle. The exposition was a rare instance of Bulgaria hosting a genuinely global event during the Zhivkov years.
