Opis awersu	Printed in violet-purple intaglio on a multicolour guilloche underprint, the obverse carries an intaglio portrait of Marco Aurelio Soto at right, identified by the caption "MARCO AURELIO SOTO / REFORMADOR DE LA REPÚBLICA / 1876". The national coat of arms of Honduras appears at centre-left, surrounded by the legend "REPÚBLICA DE HONDURAS LIBRE, SOBERANA E INDEPENDIENTE", flanked by a large ornate numeral "2" vignette at centre. The bank title "BANCO CENTRAL DE HONDURAS" and country name "REPÚBLICA DE HONDURAS, C.A." are inscribed across the top, with the denomination "DOS LEMPIRAS" in a decorative panel at bottom centre, three facsimile signatures below bearing the titles PRESIDENTE, GERENTE, and MINISTRO DE HACIENDA Y CRÉDITO PÚBLICO.

Opis rewersu	The reverse, printed in violet-purple intaglio on a multicolour guilloche underprint, presents a panoramic engraved vignette of Isla del Tigre and the port town of Amapala at right, with vessels in the foreground and the volcanic cone of Isla del Tigre rising above the settlement. To the left, a large ornate numeral "2" guilloche cartouche dominates the field. The bank title "BANCO CENTRAL DE HONDURAS" runs along the top, the word "LEMPIRAS" appears at the bottom left, and a descriptive caption below the vignette reads "ISLA DEL TIGRE Y CIUDAD PUERTO DE AMAPALA / EN DONDE INAUGURÓ SU GOBIERNO EL DR. SOTO", with the printer's imprint "THOMAS DE LA RUE AND COMPANY LIMITED" at lower right.
