| Obverse description | Printed in violet-purple intaglio on a multicolour guilloche underprint, the obverse carries an intaglio portrait of Marco Aurelio Soto at right, identified by the caption "MARCO AURELIO SOTO / REFORMADOR DE LA REPÚBLICA / 1876". The national coat of arms of Honduras appears at centre-left, surrounded by the legend "REPÚBLICA DE HONDURAS LIBRE, SOBERANA E INDEPENDIENTE", flanked by a large ornate numeral "2" vignette at centre.
