Reverse description The denomination is expressed prominently in the central field with a large numeral '2' above the word LEI in bold capital letters. The arc legend BUN PENTRU curves along the upper left portion of the field, completing the phrase 'good for 2 lei.' Two crossed wheat stalks with ears of grain frame the lower portion of the design, tied at the base with a ribbon, forming a decorative wreath motif. The whole is enclosed within a beaded border.

Additional information

Romania's 1924 coinage reform came after years of postwar monetary instability, with the National Bank scrambling to replace the wartime paper flood with practical circulating metal. The Poissy and Birmingham mints ultimately won the production contracts for the regular 2 Lei issue, but the Bucharest state mint produced its own pattern submissions first — this brass strike being one of them. The state mint lost the bid.
