By official decree, the "CITTÀ DI FIUME" handstamp or overprint was required to be applied over the Hungarian text on the face of the underlying Austria P-17 note, reflecting Fiume's status within the Hungarian crownland. Overprints found on the German text or on the reverse are considered to have been applied unofficially at a later date. |
