Obverse description Quartered shield of arms within a beaded inner circle, the four quarters bearing the heraldic devices of the Bishopric of Chur: an eagle displayed in the first quarter, towers in the second and third quarters, and a lion rampant in the fourth quarter. The shield is set in the central field with no additional ornament. The peripheral legend, in Latin majuscules, reads BEATVS · D · G · EPISCOP · CVRIEN, identifying Bishop Beatus a Porto as issuer, and runs between the beaded inner circle and the toothed outer border.
