The 2 Korona of 1917 was a wartime expedient, introduced as metal coinage disappeared into the war economy and small-denomination paper filled the gap. The Austro-Hungarian Bank had already been printing notes far beyond its gold reserves by this point — the empire's currency was effectively unmoored from any metallic backing, and inflation was advancing steadily well before the armistice.
P#11 circulated hard. These low-value notes passed through countless hands and survive today overwhelmingly in worn grades, with the paper thinning along fold lines — a predictable consequence of the denomination, not a fault of manufacture.
The empire that issued them ceased to exist the following year.
