| Opmerkingen |
Papua New Guinea adopted polymer for its lower denominations relatively early, and this note was part of a broader push by the Bank of Papua New Guinea to address the chronic durability problems that had plagued cotton-paper issues in the country's humid, high-rainfall environment. Notes in active circulation there deteriorate faster than in most tropical economies due to both climate and handling patterns in informal markets.
Note Printing Australia has handled PNG polymer production across multiple series — a relationship reflecting Australia's longstanding economic and technical ties with its northern neighbor since independence in 1975.
