Описание лицевой стороны Executed in black letterpress with a red overprint stamp, the obverse is divided into three registers: the upper field carries a full-length vignette of Jurōjin, one of the Seven Lucky Gods, shown in three-quarter standing pose with a staff in his left hand and a rigid fan in his right, a deer at his side, surrounded by auspicious objects including Fundō weights, a Cintāmaṇi jewel, and an Uchide-no-kozuchi mallet. The central field contains multiple text cartouches bearing the denomination and exchange inscriptions, overlaid diagonally by a vertical seal-script overprint stamp. The lower register presents a frontal turtle bearing a Cintāmaṇi on a wave-pattern ground.

Morioka Domain, a Nanbu clan territory in Mutsu Province, issued its own paper currency throughout the Edo period as part of the broader hansatsu system — the practice of individual feudal domains printing notes redeemable only within their own borders. These notes were not legal tender elsewhere and were a common mechanism for domains to manage local liquidity, essentially creating closed monetary circuits that kept silver and gold from leaving domain coffers.

The 1835 issue falls within a period of fiscal pressure across many northern domains, following crop failures and famine conditions associated with the Tenpō crisis. Morioka was not insulated from that stress.
