The issuer name BANK OF CHINA appears in bold letterpress across the top, below which a small scroll panel carries the promise-to-pay legend. A large intaglio numeral 20 dominates the centre above the denomination panel TWENTY CENTS in bold serif capitals. Two manuscript signatures appear in an oval cartouche, identified by the printed titles GOVERNOR and MANAGER respectively, with the red serial number repeated below.
