2 Hryvni National University of Water and Environment

The National University of Water and Environmental Engineering, based in Rivne, was founded in 1922 and remains one of Ukraine's primary institutions for hydraulic engineering and water resource management — fields of acute national importance given Ukraine's dependence on the Dnieper basin. This coin was issued as part of the long-running Ukrainian commemorative bimetallic and base-metal university series, which the National Bank has used since the late 1990s to document the country's higher education infrastructure in coin form.
