| Obverse description | Central field features a quartered heraldic shield displaying the arms of Bronckhorst-Batenburg, with a lion rampant occupying the upper quarters and additional heraldic charges in the lower quarters, all struck in a boldly relief Gothic style characteristic of early fifteenth-century Low Countries billon coinage. The shield is enclosed within a plain inner circle, surrounded by a beaded border. A partially legible Gothic legend in uncial lettering runs along the outer periphery, referencing the lord's title and name, with portions of the inscription obscured by flan irregularities and wear. The overall die work is typical of small lordship mints of the Lower Rhine region, with slightly irregular striking. |
