| Popis rubu | Central field displays a large crowned shield bearing the rampant lion of Flanders, supported on either side by two elongated, sinuous lions passant whose bodies wrap around the shield in a heraldic supporter arrangement. Four additional small lions or dragon-like figures appear at the cardinal points between the supporters, filling the field in the characteristic 'Rozebeker' decorative style. A beaded inner circle surrounds the central device, outside of which runs the circumferential legend in Gothic uncial characters: ✠ MONETA : NOVA : FLANDRIE : ET : BRABANTIE., designating this as the new coinage of Flanders and Brabant. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped at the edges, consistent with hammered billon production of the period. |
