Diese Anweisung ist ausgegeben über ZWEI GOLDMARK gegen in den Besitz der Bank übergegangene Goldguthaben, die als Deckung bei der Bank verbleiben. The Hamburgische Bank von 1923 AG was one of several private Aktiengesellschaften formed during the hyperinflation crisis specifically to issue Goldmark-denominated emergency money — a deliberate dodge of the collapsing Reichsmark. Pegging notgeld to Goldmark values gave issuers and recipients a theoretical hedge against further depreciation, though the legal and practical standing of such instruments was always precarious.
H. O. Persiehl was a Hamburg commercial printer, not a specialist security firm, which shows in these notes.
