Comments

The Hamburgische Bank von 1923 AG was one of several private Aktiengesellschaften formed during the hyperinflation crisis specifically to issue Goldmark-denominated emergency money — a deliberate dodge of the collapsing Reichsmark. Pegging notgeld to Goldmark values gave issuers and recipients a theoretical hedge against further depreciation, though the legal and practical standing of such instruments was always precarious.

H. O. Persiehl was a Hamburg commercial printer, not a specialist security firm, which shows in these notes.
