Aanvullende informatie

Balban's coinage is often overlooked in favor of his political legacy, but his monetary policy was deliberately conservative — he made no attempt to restore the debased silver coinage that had eroded under his predecessors, instead consolidating billon issues at low fineness as functional administrative currency. The Ghani denomination itself was a fractional unit tied to the Jital system that the Delhi Sultanate inherited from earlier Ghaznavid and Ghurid practice.

Balban ruled as sultan from 1266 after decades as a powerful slave-officer under Iltutmish's line, and his coins reflect a regime more concerned with projecting Turkic legitimacy than monetary reform.
