| Obverse description | The nickel-brass centre features the heraldic coat of arms of the Latvian historical region of Sēlija, depicting a walking stag with an elaborate mane and branching antlers, rendered in fine relief against a plain field. The country name LATVIJA appears as a legend in the upper portion of the centre, with the mint year 2025 inscribed in the lower right field. The denomination region name SĒLIJA is inscribed along the lower arc of the centre. The outer copper-nickel ring bears the twelve five-pointed stars of the European Union arranged around the full circumference. |

Sēlija is the least documented of Latvia's four historical regions, its medieval Selonian tribes absorbed and largely erased by the Livonian Order during the 13th-century Northern Crusades. This coin completes the four-coin series that Latvijas Banka began in 2016 with Vidzeme, each issue honoring one of the ethnographic regions that collectively form the cultural foundation of the Latvian state.
