Obverse description The nickel-brass centre features the heraldic coat of arms of the Latvian historical region of Sēlija, depicting a walking stag with an elaborate mane and branching antlers, rendered in fine relief against a plain field. The country name LATVIJA appears as a legend in the upper portion of the centre, with the mint year 2025 inscribed in the lower right field. The denomination region name SĒLIJA is inscribed along the lower arc of the centre. The outer copper-nickel ring bears the twelve five-pointed stars of the European Union arranged around the full circumference.

Reverse description The standard European common reverse designed by Luc Luycx features the large numeral 2 in the left portion of the nickel-brass centre, with a stylised map of Europe to the right overlaid with the denomination legend EURO. The engraver's initials LL appear below the map. The outer copper-nickel ring displays the twelve five-pointed stars of the European Union evenly distributed around the circumference, interspersed with fine line segments forming the standard EU border motif.
