Obverse description The central field depicts a perspective view of the celebrated 'forest of columns' within the Great Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba (Mezquita-Catedral), rendered in fine detail with the characteristic alternating red and white voussoirs of the iconic horseshoe arches receding into the distance. The country name ESPAÑA and the date 2010 appear in the field, accompanied by the Madrid mint mark M. The outer ring carries the twelve stars of the European Union arranged in a full circle, as is standard for all eurozone commemorative 2 euro coinage.
