| Obverse description | The obverse features a right-facing portrait effigy of the celebrated Greek poet Kostis Palamas (1859–1943), rendered in high relief against a plain field. The legend ΚΩΣΤΗΣ ΠΑΛΑΜΑΣ arcs above or around the portrait, with the inscription ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ identifying the issuing state. The year of issue, 2018, appears within the design. The engraver's initials or signature of Geórgios Stamatópoulos are incorporated into the field. The twelve stars of the European Union encircle the inner disc, a standard feature of Greek euro coinage. |
