Reverse description The common reverse design for the 2 Euro denomination features a large numeral '2' occupying the left portion of the inner disk, rendered in a bold, stylised typeface. To the right, a revised cartographic representation of Europe — the so-called second map design introduced in 2007, depicting the European Union in its expanded configuration including Eastern European member states — is shown in relief against a stippled background. The word 'EURO' is inscribed horizontally across the lower centre of the map, with the engraver's initials 'LL' (Luc Luycx) visible at the lower right of the inner disk. The outer copper-nickel ring bears twelve raised stars of the European Union.
