San Marino issues commemorative 2-euro coins under agreements with the European Central Bank, which grants the microstate — along with Monaco, Vatican City, and Andorra — the right to produce euro-denominated coinage despite not being an EU member. Annual allocations are capped, and San Marino's mintage limits tend to be among the lowest in the eurozone commemorative program, which keeps most of its issues out of everyday circulation almost immediately upon release.
The UN designated 2017 as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development under Resolution 70/193, adopted in December 2015.
