In the upper centre of the field, the bipartite inscription RI identifies the Italian Republic, and the mint mark R for the Rome Mint appears to its right. The designer's initials C.M. for Claudia Momoni are inscribed to the lower left, with the date 2021 placed in the exergue. |

The denomination 2 EURO is inscribed across the design, with the numeral '2' positioned in the open field representing the eastern Atlantic Ocean. Twelve five-pointed stars, symbolising the member states of the European Union, are arranged along the right portion of the outer ring — six above and six below the continental map. Six vertical relief lines traverse the inner core, visually linking the upper and lower star groupings. The engraver's initials LL appear to the right of the denomination. |
