| Obverse description | The inner disc depicts two facing figures in medical attire — a male and a female healthcare professional — each wearing surgical masks and shown with a stethoscope and a medical folder, symbolising doctors and nurses engaged on the front line during the COVID-19 pandemic. To the upper left of the composition appears a medical cross symbol, while to the upper right is a heart symbol, with the word GRAZIE (meaning 'Thank You') arching above between them. In the upper centre of the field, the bipartite inscription RI identifies the Italian Republic, and the mint mark R for the Rome Mint appears to its right. The designer's initials C.M. for Claudia Momoni are inscribed to the lower left, with the date 2021 placed in the exergue. |
